Taking Our American-Made Mission on the Road: Inside the Breakaway Tours Travel Expo

At the Made in America Store, we’re always finding new ways to share our 100% American-made mission — and last week, we took that passion on the road! Our Director of Fun, Dorothy Furtney, proudly represented the Made in America Store at the Breakaway Tours Travel Expo in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She connected with travel planners, group leaders and the general public from Greater Pittsburgh.

The Breakaway Tours Travel Expo is a key event for the group travel industry, bringing together destinations that offer unforgettable experiences for travelers who then book tours curated by Breakaway Tours. Dorothy spent the day sharing why the Made in America Store has become a favorite stop for nearly 1,500 tour bus groups and counting. It was a fantastic opportunity to introduce even more Americans to our one-of-a-kind shopping experience that celebrates American craftsmanship, community, and pride.

Inside the Breakaway Tours Travel Expo

The energy at the Breakaway Tours Travel Expo was electric! This energy was ignited by Nashville Recording Artist and the premier entertainer for the Made in America Store, Ricky Lee from Altoona, PA. In between offering mouth-watering samples of his own brand of chili, a top-seller at the store, Ricky sang his heart out. Show attendees from all over the region gathered under one roof, looking for new destinations and experiences. Throughout the day, Dorothy met with dozens of individuals, other attractions and travel planners from Breakaway Tours, answering questions, sharing brochures, and giving a personal look into what makes the Made in America Store a can’t-miss stop for motor coach groups.

One of the biggest takeaways? A tour operator like Breakaway is eager to include authentic and meaningful stops that leave an impression on their guests — and that’s exactly what the Made in America Store delivers. With our 100% American-made commitment and welcoming atmosphere, we stood out as a destination that’s not just fun to visit, but also inspiring.

Special thanks to Charley Troggio, Christine LaCivita and Charlene Troggio of Breakaway Tours for their continued support of our mission and for continuing to bring us buses filled with smiling faces.

Why Attending Travel Shows Matters

Events like the Breakaway Tours Travel Expo are essential for growing awareness about the Made in America Store among the American public. Meeting face-to-face with fans of travel allows us to build relationships and share the story behind our store — from Mark Andol’s journey to our mission to create and save American jobs for future generations.

For Dorothy, the expo wasn’t just about promoting a destination — it was about sharing the Made in America Store’s story of American craftsmanship, hard work, and pride. Every conversation was a chance to show how a visit to the Made in America Store can turn into a highlight of any trip to or through Western New York.

Looking Ahead

Thanks to the Breakaway Tours Travel Expo, even more travelers are excited to make the Made in America Store part of their journeys. We’re grateful to Dorothy for bringing our mission to life on the road and to all the incredible Americans who stopped by to learn more about what we do.

With bus-friendly, free parking, group dining options, and 18,000 square feet of 100% American-made products, we’re ready to welcome your next motor coach group to an experience they’ll never forget. Individuals, families and small groups are most welcome, too.
