Honoring Our Heroes: Flag Retreat Ceremony Returns to the Erie County Fair
Every evening at the Erie County Fair, a powerful moment unfolds at Slade Park. As the sun begins to set, a crowd gathers to witness something truly special—the Flag Retreat Ceremony, a daily tribute honoring Veterans and Active-Duty Military Members who have served our great nation.
Now in its seventh year, this patriotic tradition will once again take place during the 185th Erie County Fair, held August 6–17, 2025. Each night at 6:30 PM, the American flag is lowered with dignity and respect, accompanied by live music from the Erie County Fair All-Star Marching Band. A selected Flag Retreat Honoree of the Day is recognized during the ceremony and presented with the very flag flown that day.
The Made in America Store is proud to support this tradition by donating the 100% American-made flags that are presented to each honoree. It’s an honor for us to contribute to a ceremony that so meaningfully celebrates those who’ve served our country.
